Today I was blessed to meet Josef und Elona from Hungary. They were visiting Marburg and will eventually go home this evening. I ran into them when I was looking to attend St. Elisabeth Church, but there was no Mass today. So we went to another Catholic church called St. Johannes Kirche. On the way there we stopped at a Lutheran church. This church used to be a Catholic church. The paintings, from the Catholic church, were stripped off after the Reformation.
Hear the choir practicing beautifully!
Here is awesome diptych done by an artist in the Lutheran Church. A two canvas painting centered around martyrs (I specifically forgot who was referenced, but I will find out next time). It is so similar to what I have been doing at school (Of course this made me really excited!) It will inspire me for the work I will create soon.
We finally went to the Catholic Church, St. Johannes Kirche. It was very different than the other. Less loud and everyone kneeled or bowed to the altar diptych painting before sitting down. I was able to take communion, however no wine was given, because of bacteria reasons the presider drank it for us and they believe that if you have the bread, one is to assume the wine is included.
Please feel free to enjoy the other pictures looking over Marburg.

I am glad that you have arrived safely! Also, I do not know if it matters to you, but the dates on your pictures are not correct.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelsey for catching that for me. I will make the necessary changes.
